The City of Lone Tree boasts an innovative business environment that attracts high-tech talent and companies from around the nation. Lone Tree is home to top telecommunications companies such as Level 3 Communications, Sprint Nextel Corporation and XO Communications. In the past year, Level 3 Communications bought Lone Tree’s TW Telecom in a$5.7 billion deal, employing 1,190 workers in the city. The telecommunications and technology industry continues to drive Lone Tree’s growth with a large portion of the region's workers employed in the industry.

Colorado’s technology and telecommunications cluster is rapidly growing and evolving, with Metro Denver’s workforce containing the third highest concentration of high-tech professionals in the country. Growing telecommunications companies have no shortage of workforce, with Colorado having the nation’s 11th-largest employment base in the Internet and telecommunications services industry.

The Denver South region where Lone Tree is located has become a hotbed for telecommunications employment in the state, accounting for 39% of employment in the nine-county region. More than 78% of these employees provide telephone communication, cable and other subscription services.
