Incentives Information

The City of Lone Tree strives to provide companies with a quick, easy and affordable way to start or expand their business. Development plan reviews and construction permitting are typically achieved in in 90 days or less, a significant advantage over many other local and national jurisdictions. A single point-of-contact can also be arranged to handle all applications and requests.

Aside from low business costs, low taxes and an easily navigable approval process, Lone Tree businesses may also benefit from financial incentives offered locally and by the State of Colorado.

State Incentives

Job Growth Incentive Tax Credit

The Job Growth Incentive Tax Credit provides a state income tax credit equal to 50% of FICA paid by the business on net job growth for each calendar year within a defined period of time.  It is an incentive offered to businesses undertaking major job creation projects in Colorado. 

Strategic Cash Fund

The Strategic Cash Fund Incentive program supports and encourages new business development, business expansions and relocations that have generated new jobs throughout the state.  It provides performance based reimbursement to companies that have qualified and have created jobs in Colorado.  In some cases, the Strategic Cash Fund may also be able to provide support to initiatives led by non-profit entities pertaining to key industries or regional development.

Job Training Grant Programs

The Colorado First and Existing Industry grants are jointly administered by the State of Colorado Office of Economic Development &International Trade (OEDIT) and the Colorado Community College system. The City of Lone Tree works closely with Arapahoe Community College on this program, which provides match funding up to $800 per employee for customized job training and retraining.

Regional Insurance Home Office Premium Tax Rebate

The Colorado Division of Insurance offers a 50% premium tax discount – from 2% to 1% - on qualified regional insurance home offices, which can be a significant benefit to a new or growing insurance company in Colorado. Qualifications include 150+ full-time employees and 30,000+ square feet office space.

Private Activity Bonds (Tax-Exempt Industrial Revenue Bonds)

Locally sponsored by the county and municipal governing bodies, up to $10 million of tax-exempt private activity bonds are available for qualified manufacturing projects through state wide allocation. Bond proceeds maybe used for land acquisition, site improvements, building construction,and purchase of machinery and equipment.

County and Local Incentives

Personal Property Tax Incentives for New & Expanding Businesses

The State of Colorado allows counties and special districts to provide incentive payments to new or expanding companies. These payments are negotiated with an individual county or municipality and can total as much as 100% of the amount of taxes levied by the jurisdiction on the personal property of the new or expanding business.

Sales/Use Tax Share-Backs for New and Expanding Businesses

The City of Lone Tree is committed to exceptional quality development within its boundaries and to achieve this goal, it has some of the most stringent design requirements in the Denver metro area. Lone Tree may grant a sales tax share-back to businesses that invest in the renovation and upgrade of the exterior of a building to meet these design standards.

Building/Permit Fee Rebates for New and Expanding Businesses

The City of Lone Tree is committed to exceptional quality development within its boundaries and to achieve this goal, it has some of the most stringent design requirements in the Denver metro area. Lone Tree may grant a building/permit fee rebate to businesses that invest in the renovation and upgrade of the exterior of a building to meet these design standards.
