The Planning Division is committed to serving Lone Tree by guiding its growth in ways that are consistent with its Comprehensive Plan and adopted plans and regulations, and that ensure sustainable development reflective of the community’s values. In addition to reviewing development proposals, our team provides informed recommendations to the City’s Planning Commission, City Council, and Board of Adjustment and Appeals on current and long-range planning projects and development regulations.

How Does Lone Tree Grow? 

Development in Lone Tree is guided by the principles established in the City’s Comprehensive Plan, which informs the City’s growth for the next twenty years, and beyond. The Comprehensive Plan is reviewed every three years and is updated regularly to accommodate changing conditions in the community and to account for regulatory changes at the state level. The Comprehensive Plan is a public document and is intended to reflect the long-term goals of the community.  

Where is Lone Tree growing?

The largest area of growth in Lone Tree over the coming decades is the 3,500-acre, RidgeGate planned development located south of Lincoln Avenue, and east and west of I-25. RidgeGate is being developed as an urban, mixed-use environment that offers people a variety of residential, employment, shopping, and dining options. RidgeGate is currently home to nearly 5,000 residents. At buildout, RidgeGate is estimated to be home to 30,000 residents and 50,000 jobs.
