City residents care about their community, and major investments are continuously made to ensure Lone Tree remains a great place to live, work, and play. City streetscapes have been beautified over the years through the addition of medians, special landscaping and entryway features, public art, decorative pedestrian lights, and replacement of wood fences with attractive brick walls along many roadways. The City has also invested in parks and trails, and partnered with South Suburban Parks and Recreation in the construction of the Lone Tree Recreation Center.

Arts and culture have been strongly supported in Lone Tree for many years, through its Summer Concert Series, its Independence Day celebration, its support of local arts groups and public art, and the active work and interest by the local Arts Commission. Parks and recreation amenities are also strongly supported in the community, and a Recreation Advisory Committee was formed in 2006 to assist the City Council in evaluating such amenities for the community.

Two Douglas County School District elementary schools, Acres Green and Eagle Ridge, have been integral to the community since its incorporation. The Lone Tree Elementary School, a Douglas County School District magnet school, opened in the Fall of 2007. Also in 2007 the City offices moved to a building acquired by the City on Kimmer Drive, providing needed space for City services.
