General Information
The City of Lone Tree was incorporated in November 1995 and became a Colorado Home Rule City on May 5, 1998.  It operates under a Council-Manager form of government where Council sets the City policy and the Manager is responsible for City operations.

City Council
The Council is comprised of a Mayor and four Council members who are each elected to a four-year term.  Council members for each of the two districts serve staggered terms so that one district representative is elected every two years.  The Mayor is an At Large member of Council representing the entire City. Although Council is elected by district, each member is responsive to all areas of the City. The Council appoints citizen advisory boards and commissions to focus on special areas of concern.
