2022-2024
City of Lone Tree
Strategic Plan
The work of the City of Lone Tree is shaped by a strategic plan, which outlines the City’s Vision, Mission, Values, and the organization’s 6 Big Ideas. Each Big Idea guides the City’s overall goals and department objectives.
About Lone Tree
We are an innovative, thriving, business-friendly, family-oriented suburb located at the foot of the Rockies. Our 14,000 residents enjoy world-class cultural and recreational amenities both within Lone Tree and through easy access to the surrounding region. Two freeways and three light rail lines connect our residents to Downtown Denver and Denver International Airport.
The City is a retail and employment hub for the south Denver metro area, home to over 1,700 businesses including Charles Schwab, Kiewit, Choclear Americas, Sky Ridge Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and Park Meadow Retail Resort.
Lone Tree offers something for everyone, from traditional suburban neighborhoods to walkable urban centers surrounding rail stations.
The City organization serves many different people & stakeholders, including our core residents, regional visitors, and our business community. Our daytime population is 3x larger than our resident population due to people coming to the City for work and our regional retail offerings.
Our Future
Our team works every day to continually improve our community’s quality of life and to raise the bar for government services. As the City continues to grow, scaling, enhancing, and improving our services while maintaining our strong community bonds will remain an organizational focus.
Our community sees growth as a catalyst for continued improvement. In addition to continued infill development, Lone Tree is home to RidgeGate, an ambitious and unique 2,000 acre mixed-use development, which includes a 500 acre downtown area and several residential villages. The West Village is nearly complete. Once built out, the development will nearly triple the City’s residential population and add 20 million square feet of commercial space. Planning for and guiding the development of this area will be a major focus of the City organization for the foreseeable future.
Our Vision
Lone Tree is a premier Colorado community connected by great neighborhoods, vibrant public spaces, a beautiful natural environment, and thriving businesses.
Our Mission
We will achieve Lone Tree’s community vision by doing things the best way, not just the expected way.
Our Values
We are committed to Excellence through Integrity, Collaboration, and Innovation.

“The completion of the Southeast Rail Extension is a story of collaboration and perseverance,” said Lone Tree Mayor Jackie Millet. “Without the contributions of public and private funding partners, we would not be celebrating the opening of these three stations. Lone Tree has witnessed firsthand how investments in transportation infrastructure have improved the quality of life for existing residents and businesses and attracted top tier employers to the city.

Thanks to a growing appreciation for many of its core community foundations established as part of the master plan more than 20 years ago, RidgeGate is flourishing on both the east and west sides of the community—with new infrastructure, public transportation, extensive parks and open space, retail, commercial and residential offerings underway to create a complete community where people can live, work and play.
