LTPD’s Citizens Police Academy is designed to provide citizens a behind-the-scenes look into police work and improve partnerships between the police and the community in a fun, educational class setting.

Applications are now open for the 2023 LTPD Citizens Police Academy! To participate, you must be at least 18 years of age, submit the CPA Application and Liability Release Form, and pass a criminal background check.

The 2023 Academy will take place at the Lone Tree Municipal Building & Police Department, located at 9220 Kimmer Dr., Lone Tree, CO 80104, on Tuesday evenings, 6 – 8:30 p.m., September 5 – November 7, 2023. The course will also feature several Saturday classes.

As a participant in the Citizens Police Academy, you will:

    • Get to know your police officers
    • Drive a patrol car
    • Search a building for bad guys
    • Investigate a mock crime scene
    • Try on SWAT gear
    • Watch a K-9 demonstration
    • Practice roadside maneuvers
    • De-escalate a crisis situation
    • Conduct a mock traffic stop
    • And much more….

Applicants will not be allowed to participate unless a release of liability has been signed and turned in prior to the start of the Academy. Classes are held at 9220 Kimmer Drive, Lone Tree.
