Election Certification
The City will certify the official election results on May 15, 2026. Certification is the legal process where election officials finalize and confirm the vote totals.
Before certification, certain additional eligible ballots may be processed. These include:
- UOCAVA ballots — ballots from military members and U.S. citizens living overseas. UOCAVA stands for the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act, a federal law that protects voting access for these voters. These ballots must be received by May 13 in order to be included in the official count.
- Signature cure ballots — ballots that were initially flagged because the voter’s signature was missing or did not match the signature on file in the Secretary of State’s voter registration file. Voters are notified and given an opportunity to “cure,” or correct, the issue so their ballot can be counted. These ballots must be cured by May 13 in order to be included in the official count.
Colorado law requires an automatic recount when an election is extremely close. A recount is triggered if the difference between candidates is 0.5% or less of the total votes received by the candidate with the most votes.
For example, if the leading candidate received 600 votes, an automatic recount would be required if the difference in votes between candidates is 3 votes or fewer.

May 5, 2026 City Council Election Candidates
Lone Tree’s next municipal election is scheduled for May 5, 2026. Registered electors will vote to fill two seats on the Lone Tree City Council. Municipal elections in Lone Tree are nonpartisan, meaning candidates run based on their experience, qualifications, and priorities for the community and not political party affiliation. City Councilmembers are responsible for setting policy, approving the City budget, establishing strategic priorities, and helping guide the future of our community.
The following candidates have qualified for the May 5, 2026 election and are listed below in the order they will appear on the ballot.

In his own words: “As a resident of Lone Tree for the past 12 years, Greg Jewell has witnessed firsthand the growth and opportunities within the community, as well as the challenges of ensuring it remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
Professionally, Greg brings over 25 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, and business operations, currently serving as Vice President of Procurement at Charter Communications (Spectrum), a Fortune 100 company. He specializes in identifying and implementing transformational changes that drive efficiency, cost savings, and operational excellence. His expertise in strategic decision-making, financial acumen, and team leadership has led to significant results in high-stakes environments.
Greg’s leadership experience also extends beyond his professional career. As the President of the Park Meadows Metropolitan District, he has gained valuable insights into managing public infrastructure, balancing budgets, and collaborating with local organizations and residents to achieve common goals. This role has sharpened his skills in problem-solving, strategic planning, and community engagement, all of which he plans to bring to the City Council.

In her own words: “A decade-long Lone Tree resident, Michelle Béchamps is deeply invested in the future of our community and actively serves in leadership roles that help shape it. She currently serves on the Lone Tree Planning Commission and was part of the Steering Committee for Lone Tree Elevate, the City’s Comprehensive Plan initiative. Through this work, she focuses on key decisions shaping Lone Tree’s future, including responsible growth, infrastructure and city services that keep pace with development, and thoughtful design standards addressing issues such as land use and transportation while protecting the city’s livability, character, and neighborhood integrity.
From 2018 to 2023, Michelle served on the Lone Tree Arts Commission, supporting public art and cultural programs that strengthen community identity and enhance our quality of life. She also volunteers at MorningStar at RidgeGate, reflecting her commitment to staying connected and giving back to Lone Tree residents across generations.
With more than 30 years of executive leadership experience, Michelle advises municipal governments, public entities, and nonprofit organizations on strategic planning, governance, financial management, and organizational performance. She is President of Béchamps & Associates, a Lone Tree–based strategic planning and brand consulting firm founded in 2008, where she works with public entity and nonprofit leaders on long-range planning, sustainable growth, and effective community communications.
Earlier in her career, Michelle held senior leadership roles with CIRSA, Colorado’s municipal insurance pool, and Sedgwick, a national public entity risk management organization. In those positions, she partnered directly with elected officials and governing boards to oversee multimillion-dollar budgets, manage risk, enhance member engagement, and strengthen operational accountability. She also served as Brand Manager for the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade, supporting statewide economic development initiatives.

In his own words: “Glenn Hertzler, Chair of the Lone Tree Planning Commission, is a District 2 candidate for Lone Tree City Council. Raised on a Wyoming family farm, Glenn learned early the values of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance. He earned a Civil and Architectural Engineering degree from the University of Wyoming and built a career defined by leadership and results.
Glenn spent 17 years in the energy industry, rising to Operations Manager for a major Rocky Mountain drilling company overseeing more than 50 rigs. In 1996, he co-founded Avtrak, an aviation compliance company serving corporate flight departments worldwide. As President, he grew the company to 60 employees across six international locations before its successful sale in 2016.
Service has always been central to Glenn’s life. Since moving to Lone Tree in 2017, he has served on his HOA board and was appointed to the Planning Commission in 2022, becoming Chair in 2024.
Family is at the heart of his commitment to protecting Lone Tree’s future. Glenn and his wife of 35 years, Carol, are the proud parents of adult twin daughters and grandparents to two young granddaughters.

In her own words: “I am a Lone Tree resident, small business owner, wife, and mom who is deeply committed to preserving what makes this community exceptional. My husband, Michael, and I chose to move to Lone Tree in 2020 following a serious health scare in our family — a life-changing experience that strengthened our appreciation for community, resilience, and quality of life. We chose Lone Tree as the place to raise our daughter, Darby, and son, Ben, because of its unique character — a thoughtfully planned, nature-filled city that offers both serenity and opportunity.
Raised in a small town in Iowa, I developed a strong work ethic, a deep sense of integrity, and a lasting respect for community. As a real estate professional, I work with individuals and families from all walks of life, listening carefully, evaluating complex situations, and guiding thoughtful decision-making. My work requires balancing differing perspectives, coordinating multiple stakeholders, and finding practical solutions that serve the broader good — skills that translate directly to effective local governance.
I previously served on the Board of the Cancer League and remain actively involved in our local community church and in my daughter’s school. Mail Ballot Election
The election will be conducted entirely by mail-in ballot. Click here to view the sample ballot. Ballots will be mailed to all active registered electors in Lone Tree prior to Election Day. Voters may return their completed ballot by mail or deposit it in the official ballot box by 7:00 p.m. Election Day, May 5, 2026, at the following location:

Make Sure You’re Registered to Vote
To receive a mail ballot, Lone Tree residents must be:
- Current Lone Tree address;
- 18 years old by Election Day;
- Citizen of the United States; and
- Lived in Colorado at least 22 days prior to Election Day.
If you need to register to vote or update your information, please do so ahead of the election to ensure you receive your ballot without delay at govotecolorado.com.
For the May 2026 Municipal Election, voters may register to receive a mail ballot by April 27, 2026. Voters who miss this deadline may still register through Election Day and receive a ballot in person and vote on May 5, 2026, by 7:00 p.m. Colorado permits online voter registration with a Colorado driver’s license or ID card.
