Guiding Decisions, Protecting the City

The City Attorney serves as Lone Tree’s chief legal advisor, providing guidance to City Council, staff, and departments on day-to-day legal issues and long-range community goals. The office helps protect the City against legal liability by reviewing policies, contracts, laws, and initiatives, while also safeguarding transparency and accountability, in how Lone Tree operates. 

City Attorney Michow is a founding partner of Michow Guckenberger McAskin LLP in Greenwood Village, which has served various municipalities, including Lakewood, Cherry Hills Village, Castle Pines, Mead, Leadville and Central City. 

Our Responsibilities Include:

  • Drafting and reviewing ordinances, resolutions, and contracts 
  • Representing the City in legal proceedings 
  • Providing legal training and updates to City staff 
  • Advising on land use, development, and municipal code enforcement 
  • Managing outside legal counsel when specialized expertise is needed 
  • Advising the City regarding open meetings and public records laws
