Trash and Recycling
The City of Lone Tree is proud to offer residents of single-family homes free, reliable trash and recycling service (one of only two cities in Colorado to do so). Through a partnership with Waste Connections, the City provides a cost-effective and efficient program designed to make waste management simple, sustainable, and convenient. Our goal is to deliver high-quality service at no cost to residents while keeping our community clean and environmentally responsible.

Service Details
Waste Connections Containers Required, No Bags or Debris Left at Curb
All waste must be included in your Waste Connections bins; no personal bins, no bags or debris left at curb or outside of the containers will be picked up other than during designated yard clean up months in the spring and fall which will be announced at that time.
Trash and Recycling Collection Times
Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Trash collection days will remain the same. Recycling collection will remain every other week, on your scheduled trash day.
Each single-family residence may choose:
One (1) trash container: 64- or 96- gallon
One (1) recycling container: 64- or 96-gallon
(Each single-family household may receive up to three containers at no charge, with no delivery or pick up fees. The three containers can be a mix of containers for trash and/or recycling.)
Additional Containers
- Residents may request a fourth or fifth trash or recycling container.
- The fourth and fifth containers are available for a fee of $4 per month, for each container, invoiced directly from Waste Connections.
- There is a limit of five trash containers per residence.
No Service on Specified Holidays
New Year’s Day; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day; and Christmas Day. Service will be delayed one day following these holidays.
Service During Inclement Weather
In the event of severe or inclement weather on a scheduled trash day, service will be delayed by one day following these types of events.

Additional Services
Yard Waste Collection
During the spring and fall seasons, two months a year, the City will offer City-wide yard waste collection, in partnership with Waste Connections.
Collection of Large/ Bulky Items
By special arrangement with the resident, Waste Connections will collect large/bulky items, paid for by the resident. Call Waste Connections at 303-288-2100 for this service.
Special Needs Collection
Waste Connections will provide, at no cost to the resident, a collection service program for households that are unable to move their waste containers to the curb.
Trash Schedule by Neighborhood
Your weekly trash and recycling pick-up day is determined based on your neighborhood. Trash service occurs on the same day every week and recycling service occurs every-other week. Waste Connections requests that you have your trash and recycling out by 7:00 a.m. Below is an overview of trash days based on where your home is located within the City. You can also visit Waste Connections online and type in your address to pull up your schedule.
Lyric Neighborhood: Newly built households in the Lyric neighborhood should complete this form to request trash and recycling service and to receive your pickup day.
Monday: Heritage Hills (except homes on Sunset Hill Circle, Sunset Hill Drive and Sunset Hill Place)
Tuesday: Belvedere, Carriage Club, Centennial Ridge, The Enclave, homes on Sunset Hill Circle, Sunset Hill Drive and Sunset Hill Place in Heritage Hills, Muirfield
Wednesday: Bluffmont Estates, Bluffmont Greene, Bluffmont Heights, Country Club Estates, Cypress Green, Heritage Estates, Montecito, Prominence Point, RidgeGate, Ridgeview, Terra Ridge, Sky Ridge
Thursday: The Charter, Club Terrace, Lone Tree Terrace, The Vista
Friday: Fairways, Lyric, Masters Park, Taos

New residents (unless you live in a new build in the Lyric neighborhood) do not need to do anything to activate your trash and recycling service as it begins when you move in. If you need additional containers, please email the City at trash@cityoflonetree.com
