For more than 15 years, Tiger Rock Martial Arts of Lone Tree has been more than a training academy—it’s been a cornerstone of character development in our community. Family- and veteran-owned, the Johnson family has fostered a culture that pairs the discipline of self-defense with kindness, resilience, and leadership, supported by families who share those values.
The Johnsons have lived in Lone Tree for more than 25 years. They own a home in Acres Green and currently live in The Charter near Sweetwater Park. Originally from the Bay Area, they say they’ve always loved Lone Tree and consider this to be their home.
Their children grew up here as well, attending Eagle Ridge Elementary and Cresthill Middle School. Their daughter, Lexus, was part of Valor High School’s inaugural class, later earned her master’s degree at Georgia State, and recently returned to Colorado with her husband and two children. Their son, Keanu, a Highlands Ranch High School graduate, is now a lead instructor at Tiger Rock and attends the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
Tiger Rock’s story is one of family, community, and lasting commitment – qualities that continue to make a positive impact in Lone Tree.

Training at Tiger Rock goes beyond kicks and punches. It’s about preparing for life. The academy’s 15-level belt system represents a journey of continuous improvement, and symbolizes growth through helping students RISE to every challenge and transform themselves and the world around them. This isn’t a claim-based program; it’s evidence-driven, focused on measurable progress and lifelong success.
All classes are split by age and skill level, so that every every class is relevant and exciting for their athletes. Adults train with adults, and kids train with kids. Occasionally, they will offer special “mixed” classes where kids, teens and adults will come and train together, which provides a fun and family friendly experience for all.
Every session promises three things: sweating, smiling, and learning. From White Belt beginners to elite Black Belt leaders, students develop the skills and mindset to overcome obstacles and lead with strength and conviction.
