The City of Lone Tree and South Suburban Park and Recreation District (SSPRD) will officially break ground on High Note Park on April 29, 2026, marking a major milestone in the creation of one of Colorado’s next signature public spaces, and become the largest park in Lone Tree once complete.
Located along Happy Canyon Creek near I-25 and RidgeGate Parkway, High Note Park is envisioned as a premier regional destination and a central gathering place for Lone Tree and north-central Douglas County. The park will feature scenic trails, expansive green spaces, performance venues, and interactive play areas designed for residents and visitors of all ages.
“High Note Park represents a generational investment in our community,” said Lone Tree Mayor Marissa Harmon. “This project reflects the vision our residents supported decades ago and brings to life a vibrant destination for recreation, events and connection in our City and the region.”
Originally included as part of the City’s long-term vision with annexation of the land approved by Lone Tree residents in 2000, the park will be easily accessible from the RidgeGate light rail station. It is designed not only as a natural retreat, but also as an economic driver supporting local businesses, attracting visitors, and increasing property values.
The site plan was shaped by community input and focuses on creating strong connections throughout the park, while balancing spaces for both active use and relaxation, bringing in amenities that don’t exist in the area.
Planned features of Phase One of High Note Park will include:
- Two lit synthetic multipurpose fields
- A playground
- The new Happy Canyon Trail with connections to Schweiger Ranch and the East West Trail
- Community gathering spaces
- A play water feature
- A 200-seat beer garden, anticipated to be operated by Lone Tree Brewing Company
- A food truck area
- A dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs
- A parking lot
Funding for Phase One of High Note Park was secured in September 2025, totaling approximately $31 million through a strong regional partnership:
- $13 million from South Suburban Park and Recreation District
- $9 million from the City of Lone Tree
- $7.5 million from Douglas County
- $1 million from the Southeast Public Improvement Metropolitan District (SPIMD)
- $580,000 from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO)
“The development of High Note Park marks an exciting milestone for the City of Lone Tree and South Suburban,” said South Suburban Board Chair Pam Eller. “This investment reflects our dedication to providing top-tier recreational amenities that encourage residents to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.”
Future phases of the park will be developed as additional funding becomes available and are expected to align with continued growth in RidgeGate East, including the long-term development of the Lone Tree City Center. High Note Park will add to the momentum in RidgeGate East, where a mix of residential, multi-family, and senior living is already taking shape, alongside planned amenities under construction like a new Douglas County School District elementary school, a King Soopers shopping center, and additional parks and trails.
“It’s an exciting time for Lone Tree,” added Mayor Harmon. “We’re thinking ahead as a City and High Note Park is part of that – an investment that will benefit our City and the region for many generations to come.”
Construction of Phase One is anticipated to continue through 2026, with an expected opening in 2027.
