The Lone Tree Police Department would like to share information about a police incident in the Heritage Hills neighborhood. We ask all residents to be vigilant and take appropriate steps to secure your homes, vehicles, and property.  We also encourage you to share this information with your friends, family, and neighbors.

On Friday, February 7, 2025, the Police Department received a call from a resident walking who observed a suspicious camera in a neighbor’s yard pointing directly at another home in the Heritage Hills neighborhood of Lone Tree. Upon arrival, the officer confirmed the camera, wrapped in camouflage, was deliberately placed in a bush. Officers canvassed the neighborhood, speaking to residents, and did not locate any other hidden cameras. The Lone Tree Police Department is actively working this case. Our Investigations team is also collaborating with several other area law enforcement agencies as the Police Department believes this incident could be connected to the series of burglaries last year targeting victims of Asian descent. Since last year when the Police initially reported this burglary trend, there has not been any new burglaries in Lone Tree.

The Lone Tree Police Department encourages all residents to please call 9-1-1 if you need police assistance immediately or if you see something that looks suspicious or does not feel right in your neighborhood. 

Our patrol team already conducts increased patrols in our residential neighborhoods and will continue to do so.  We will provide any significant updates to keep our residents informed.

Here are some safety tips:

• Have quality security systems working and in place to protect your residence and loved ones.
• Use known and reputable contractors to perform any work on your house or yard.
• Have someone check on your home if you are going to be gone for extended periods of time.
• Use the Lone Tree Police Department’s “House Watch” program for shorter vacations or trips.
• Know your neighbors and look out for each other.
• Report any suspicious people or vehicles so police officers can respond to the area and address concerns.
• If you see someone in your neighborhood wearing a mask, please call 9-1-1.
