Use this report for an auto or traffic accident that occurred on public property if a police officer was NOT present. If you were involved in an accident and a police officer was called to the scene, you do not need to provide any forms unless you receive a letter from the Department of Revenue, which will inform you of what needs to be done. If a police officer was NOT present please note the following:
- If an accident report is filed online by an individual, the report does not get investigated by a law enforcement agency. The reports are kept for record purposes only.

Auto Accident on Private Property
Use this report for an accident that occurred on private property, which includes driveways, parking lots, and private roadways, and does not involve injuries or damage to public property. This will be for reporting purposes only and will not be investigated.

Graffiti
Use this report when there is a destruction of property that normally does not cause permanent damage but needs to be eradicated quickly. Examples: using paint to tag, gang graffiti, or unsolicited artwork on walls, buildings, fences, and highways.

Hit and Run on Private Property
Use this report if an accident occurred on private property and does not involve injuries or damage to public property. There is no suspect or suspect vehicle information. Private property includes driveways, parking lots, and private roadways.

Identity Theft
Use this report if someone has used your name or personal information or your financial transaction device (IE: credit card, checks, etc.) to obtain goods or services. This report will not be used to start an investigation, it is only for your records and to report the crime for the purpose of getting reimbursed and satisfy your bank’s requirements. Lost Property

Theft from Vehicle
Use this report if a person commits the crime of criminal trespass to a vehicle if such person knowingly and unlawfully enters a vehicle of another person with the intent to commit a crime (with the intent to steal something from within).

Harassing Phone Calls
Use this report for unwanted, annoying, harassing, or threatening communication from an individual or individual’s device, including, but not limited to computers and phones. Example: Threats to a person or their property, obscene language, or repeated communication after being told to stop.

Panhandling & Homelessness
The Lone Tree Police Department (LTPD) has prioritized engagement with individuals in need and self initiates contact when feasible to connect them to appropriate resources. A Sergeant has been identified as a team lead to coordinate efforts to address homeless issues in the City. The City also has a dedicated officer a part of a crisis response team that pairs a member of law enforcement with a mental health clinician to respond to individuals in need.
Enforcing Local Ordinances
The City takes public safety and enforcing the law seriously. Individuals that are breaking the law will be contacted by the Lone Tree Police Department (LTPD).
Overnight Camping on Public Property is Not Allowed in the City of Lone Tree
When there is an encampment on public property, the City will take action, within requirements of the law, to clear unlawful camping areas in accordance with local ordinances. This includes following state requirements for the City to post notice at camping areas in advance of clearing. On private property, law enforcement will work with the property owner to clear any individuals that are trespassing as reported by the private property owner.
Panhandling
The City does not have the legal ability to outlaw panhandling as it has been found to be protected by the First Amendment.
Median Safety Ordinance
Per Sec. 10-6-50 of the Municipal Code, the City has identified designated medians where pedestrian access is prohibited due to safety concerns that meet necessary criteria. The City is not allowed to have a blanked ban of pedestrian access on all medians. See all restricted medians here.
