Polar Plunge

Every year, Lone Tree Police officers trade their uniforms for something a little colder—and a lot wetter—all to support Special Olympics Colorado. The Polar Plunge is more than just a chilly dip; it’s a chance for our department and community to come together for an unforgettable event that raises awareness and funds for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

Whether you’re brave enough to jump in, want to donate, or just come out and cheer, there’s a place for everyone at the plunge. It’s one of our favorite ways to give back—and yes, we really do get in the water!

Polar Plunge 2026

The Lone Tree Police Department will be plunging at the Aurora Reservoir on March 28, 2026! We invite everyone to join us and take a bold dip into the icy waters, hit the pavement for the 5K, or both! We’re excited to support Special Olympics in providing year-round sports training and competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabililties.

Registration is easy – visit the Lone Tree Police team page to join us, and ask your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to sponsor you and donate to your individual page.

Ways You Can Be a Part or Support the LTPD Team:

Join us in making a difference, one freezing splash at a time.

1. Register as a team member on the LTPD team. Join us for the plunge, the 5K, or both!

2. Gather donations in any amount. Encourage friends, family, and colleagues to support your participation, or join in on the fun themselves!

3. Sponsor the LTPD or an LTPD officer by donating to the team or individual registration page. Have a favorite School Resource Officer? Show them some support as they brave the icy waters!

Lone Tree Brewing Company

We’re excited that Lone Tree Brewing Company has partnered with the Lone Tree Police Department again this year to promote and fundraise for the Polar Plunge.

Join us for a kickoff event on Thursday, February 19 at the Lone Tree location! Starting at 5pm grab a cold one and spend some time with our officers, and join in on some trivia fun at 6pm! A portion of proceeds from the Polar Plunge Cold IPA will be donated to the LTPD team – ultimately benefitting Special Olympics Colorado.
