Lone Tree’s Active Transportation Plan
Lone Tree is taking steps toward a more connected and healthier future with its updated Active Transportation Plan. The plan is all about making it easier and safer for people of all ages and abilities to walk, bike, and use trails and bikeways to get where they need to go.
Building on the 2015 Walk & Wheel Plan, it lays out a network of trails, bikeways, and walkways that connect neighborhoods with schools, parks, shopping areas, workplaces, and transit. It’s not just about getting from one place to another; it’s also about giving people more options, improving air quality, and making travel safer.
Community feedback was key in shaping the plan. Residents shared ideas through surveys, workshops, and events, which helped the City set priorities like adding bike lanes, improving crossings, expanding trails, and creating new connections across Lone Tree.
The Plan's Goals
Connected Network: Link trails, bikeways, and walkways to everyday destinations for people of any age or ability.
Accessibility & Safety: Ensure routes are comfortable, well-maintained, and safe for all users.
High Quality of Life: Support both recreation and transportation needs for residents and visitors.
Progress on Past Plans: Build on successes from the 2015 Walk & Wheel Plan, such as the Willow Creek Trail and new bike lanes.
Future-Focused Investments: Highlight new connectivity needs identified through public feedback.
Design for All: Use the City’s Multimodal Design Reference Guide to create and maintain an inclusive, sustainable network.
