• Secure Your Home – Lock doors and windows and consider using timers for lights to give the appearance that someone is home.  
• Avoid Oversharing Online – Be cautious about posting travel plans or valuable gifts on social media.  
• Keep Valuables Hidden – Don’t leave gifts or valuables visible in your vehicle, store in your trunk if possible.  
• Be Cautious of Strangers – Be wary of unexpected visitors or solicitors approaching you for any reason.  Many criminals will use different methods to distract you with the intention of taking your money or merchandise.  
• Use a Shopping Buddy – Shop with a friend or family member for added security.  
• Keep Wallet or Purse Secure – Use a crossbody bag or keep your wallet in a front pocket.  
• Be Cautious with Purchases – Don’t flaunt shopping bags or expensive items while walking through the mall. Don’t flash a lot of cash and use only one credit card to avoid having multiple cards compromised.  
• Park in Well-Lit Areas – Always park in populated areas and never walk out of the mall by yourself when the mall closes. 
• Be Suspicious of Callers – Scammers claim to be from your credit card company and request to verify your information. Do not give out any personally identifiable information over the phone unless you have confirmed the legitimacy of the caller.

Keep an eye out for suspicious activity. If something doesn’t feel or look right, and makes you pause, pause. Report your observations or concerns to the Lone Tree Police Department by calling 9-1-1.

• Leave instructions to conceal the package.  
• Have packages delivered to your neighbor 
• Require signatures on all packages 
• Use a porch lock box  
• Follow package tracking  
• Get packages delivered to your workplace 
• Request deliveries to a pick-up location
