The Douglas County School District’s (DCSD) Legacy Campus has redefined the traditional high school experience. Located in Lone Tree, the campus is a state-of-the-art Career and Technical Education (CTE) center dedicated to preparing students for high-demand careers, post-secondary education, and workforce readiness. Students from 15 high schools across Douglas County come to the Legacy Campus to participate in immersive, experience based CTE courses. Here they are able to explore what they are passionate about and turn that into a pathway to success after graduation. High school juniors and seniors access courses at Legacy but stay enrolled in, and remain part of their home high school community.  

Pathways to Professional Success 

The heart of the Legacy Campus experience lies in its distinct Career and Technical Education pathways. These programs are designed to give high school students the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to step directly into a career or pursue higher education with a competitive advantage. The current offerings include: 

• Advanced Robotics: An experiential learning program with training in automated control systems, manufacturing, electrical principles, and robotic programming. 

• Architecture: Learn the tools and techniques used by architects through art, design, drafting, and computer-aided design. 

• Aviation: Designed for those planning a career as a professional pilot or interested in learning more about aviation. 

• Building Controls Technology: Geared toward students who desire a possible career in construction, electrical, and building automation trades. 

• Culinary and Hospitality: Introduces students to culinary arts, restaurant and lodging management, employability skills, and business entrepreneurship. 

• EMT/EMS: Provides the basic skills to work in an ambulance, apply for firefighting positions, work as an EMT in emergency departments, and work ski patrols. 

• Future Educator: For students who want to be future teachers/educators in early childhood, elementary, or special education. 

• Nursing: Prepares students for employment as a nurse aide in hospital, home care, skilled care, and hospice facilities. 

• Secure Network Technologies: Provides students the skills, knowledge, and experience in computer networking, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. 

Looking to the Future 

Thanks to a Bond initiative passed by voters in 2024, phase two of Legacy Campus is underway. In the 2026-2027 school year, the Legacy Campus will offer additional career pathways, including: 

• Advanced Manufacturing: Aerospace: For students working towards technician-level careers or higher education in aerospace and advanced manufacturing. 
   

• Automotive Technology (EV/Hybrid): Provides students the skills, knowledge, and experience in automotive and advanced EV technology. 

• Construction Trades: Provides students the skills, knowledge, and experience to prepare them for careers or apprenticeships in construction. 
   

• Electrical Technology: Learn skills that lead to a clear path in careers in the electrical and construction trades. 

A Foundation Built on Partnership 

A defining feature of the Legacy Campus is its robust partnership model. The campus actively collaborates with local businesses and organizations (The City of Lone Tree is a proud partner!) and post-secondary institutions to provide students with real-world, hands-on practical experiences. These partnerships are crucial for giving students a “competitive edge,” allowing them to collaborate with industry professionals, address important issues, and directly engage with the leaders of tomorrow. The Legacy Campus is not just for students; it is a resource for the entire Douglas County community. Its public services include: 

• The Legacy Campus Marketplace: Open to students, staff, and the public, the Marketplace offers a welcoming spot for coffee, food, conversations and meetings. The Marketplace is run by students in the DCSD 18-21 Bridge program and is open Mondays – Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
