New Art for Lone Tree

On Friday, August 11, the City of Lone Tree invited the community to a special event to unveil a vibrant new mural on the Lincoln Avenue Pedestrian Bridge by renowned artist Kelsey Montague. The monumental, immersive 100-foot mural features two interactive segments that encourage engagement and social media sharing.

This mural was one of three preferred options by the Lone Tree Arts Commission, which received more than 15 proposals for the public art project. Montague’s proposal was formally selected by Lone Tree City Council in May 2023.

About the Mural

Painted over the course of ten hot summer days in July and August, “What Lifts You Garden – Lone Tree” pays tribute to the heritage of Colorado while celebrating the ways the state has grown. The artwork combines elements of the old and the new, embodying the spirit of pioneers who laid the foundation for the state. Gigantic native flowers, including the iconic Columbine, adorn the mural, while several interactive components, such as a watering can and a swing, will allow visitors to put themselves directly into the artwork.

Visitors to the mural will be able to share their experiences with the artist through social media using the hashtag #whatliftsyou, and with the City of Lone Tree by tagging @cityoflonetree in posts.

The City of Lone Tree would like to thank the Lone Tree Arts Commission for their great work in helping select an incredible art piece for the community to enjoy. Please enjoy a timelapse of the mural installation below.
