Hazardous Waste
At Your Door Special Collection service for hazardous waste is operated under contract by Waste Management. The program focuses on collecting items that cannot be recycled locally and should not be placed in the trash: paint, paint thinners, car batteries, used oil, pesticides, poisons, spray cans, antifreeze, household cleaners, electronics and more.
To participate, call 1-800-HHW-PKUP (1-800-449-7587) and request a collection. Waste Management’s At Your Door Special Collection service will verify resident eligibility and schedule a pick-up date.

Cost
The program is funded by the City’s partners at Douglas County with a minimal resident co-pay of $30.00 per pick-up. Douglas County will pay the remaining amount. Additional quantities of materials may be collected at an additional charge.
Eligible Materials for Collection
- Automotive Products (used motor oil, oil filters and batteries)
- Garden Chemicals (pesticides, herbicides and weed killers)
- Paint Products
- Household Cleaners
- Swimming Pool Chemicals
- Electronics (TV’s, computers, monitors and more)
- Household batteries
- Straight Fluorescent tubes and Compact Fluorescent lamps(CFL)
- Thermometers and thermostats
Non-eligible Materials for Collection
Waste Management’s At Your Door Special Collection service does not accept biological waste, appliances, ammunition, asbestos, tires, medicines/pharmaceuticals or radioactive materials. Materials must be in a sealed, labeled container in 5 gal or less. This is a residential program only, no business materials will be collected.
