Municipal Court

The Lone Tree Municipal Court is held in person at 8527 Lone Tree Parkway.

Cases will always be handled in a fair, just and impartial manner during this time with the same high standards of accountability, integrity and fairness.  For assistance with your case, you may contact Court Staff during non-court hours at 303-339-8177 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  You may e-mail the Court at: [email protected] or visit Court Staff during non-court hours at the Lone Tree Municipal Building, located at 9220 Kimmer Drive Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Traffic and Parking Cases

Some traffic cases may be handled by paying the fine by mail or online, while others will be rescheduled to a later date. If your fine is not paid, or if your citation is a summons, then you must appear on your rescheduled court date.

Active Warrant

If you have an active warrant that you are trying to address, please call the Court Clerk, who will be able to discuss options for your case. Attorneys appearing in the court may fax their entry to 303-225-4949 or you may email the Court your entry.

Court sessions are NOT held at this facility. This is the location to pay fines and fees, either by mail or in person. Payments can also be made online. Court staff is also available to answer questions at this location when court sessions are not being held.

Staff is NOT present at this location when Court sessions are not being held. Mail is NOT accepted at this location. 

The Lone Tree Municipal Court is committed to the administration of justice with equality, fairness and integrity. The Court employees strive to treat our customers with respect and dignity while upholding the organizational values established by the City of Lone Tree.

The Lone Tree Municipal Court is a court of limited jurisdiction which serves the Citizens of the City of Lone Tree, Colorado. The types of cases heard in the Lone Tree Municipal Court are: traffic, misdemeanor, parking, animal and other municipal code violations. The Lone Tree Municipal Court has authority over violations of the Lone Tree Municipal Code. Some charges require an appearance in court, while others may be resolved by mailing in a fine. City ordinances, court rules and state statutes govern court proceedings.

Court employees are not allowed to give legal advice, but are happy to answer procedural questions.

Information on this site applies only to the Lone Tree Municipal Court. Some summonses written by Lone Tree Police Officers are written to Douglas County Court. A Douglas County summons will begin with the letters “LTC”. A Lone Tree summons will begin with “LTM”. Please check your summons for the name and address of the court.

Violations that occur within the City of Lone Tree and are considered matters of statewide concern are written into and heard in Douglas County Court. For example: Improper Auto Registration, Vehicle and Driver licensing, Theft over $1,000.00, First Degree Assault, and D.U.I. violations and other felony charges. The City of Lone Tree does not hear civil or felony cases.

Payment Information

Payment of fines and fees may be made by Master Card, Visa, check, electronic check, money order or cash.

Payments can be made online, in person at the Municipal Court Administrative Office, via phone (303-339-8177), or mailed. If you mail in a payment, please reference your citation number and send only the check or money order payable to the City of Lone Tree.

Fines, Fees & Other Costs

For traffic cases, the Lone Tree City Council established a that a minimum of $25.00 be assessed per point of the original charge, to maximum fine of $1000.00 and/or 1 year in jail.  If the violation occurred in a school or construction zone, the fine is automatically doubled.

A $10.00 VALE fee is assessed on all violations in Lone Tree.  The VALE fee goes to police and victim services, and witness assistance programs.

A $30.00 court cost is assessed upon all guilty plea entries in court.  For more information regarding court costs, please see section 10-17-10 of the municipal code.

Red Light Enforcement Payments

Payments can be made online. Logon to www.ViolationInfo.com with your Notice # and PIN # shown in the red box on the front of your notice. Click the green “Pay Your Red Light Violation Online” button. A convenience fee of $4.00 will be assessed at the time of payment.

Payments can also be mailed by check or money order, payable to the City of Lone Tree. Cash is not accepted. Make your payment within 30 days of the Issue Date and include your Notice # on your payment.

In-person payments are accepted within 30 days of the Issue Date. Bring your Notice of Violation, along with your payment to the Lone Tree Municipal Court Office, 9220 Kimmer Drive, Suite 100, Lone Tree, CO 80124, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Major Credit Cards accepted.

Jury Service

Jury duty in Lone Tree requires one day of service. If you have served in Federal, District, or County court in the past year as a juror for at least three continuous days, you may be excused from municipal jury duty for one year. Please contact the court office if this applies to you at 303-339-8177.

If you appear in the Lone Tree’s Municipal Court as a juror, you will not be called again for at least one year.

Please call 303-339-8177 the day before the jury trial to make certain the trial remains set and there has not been a change in the Court’s schedule
