On May 17, clear blue skies and a warm morning set the stage for the long-awaited ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony for a project that started more than two decades ago—the Southeast Rail Extension, which brings three new light rail stations to Lone Tree.

During her remarks, Mayor Jackie Millet attributed the success of this project to the vision of former Lone Tree mayors Jack O’Boyle and Jim Gunning, and the strong partnership and collaboration with local jurisdictions, developers, RTD and the business community.

RTD’s Southeast Rail Extension brings Sky Ridge Station, City Center Station and RidgeGate Parkway Station to Lone Tree with 2.3 more miles of track and 1,300 new parking spaces at the end-of-line RidgeGate Parkway station.

New Light Rail Stations Open with Station Sensation Festival

On May 18, hundreds of people jumped on board Lone Tree’s three new light rail stations to get to Station Sensation—a street festival hosted by the City of Lone Tree, in partnership with RidgeGate and South Metro Denver Chamber, to celebrate the opening of the Southeast Rail Extension.

The lively street festival featured live music, a watermelon eating contest, carnival games, face painting, wall climbing, performances, food trucks and much more!
