Lone Tree

xcelThe City of Lone Tree continued its commitment to sustainability and advancing its clean energy goals by joining Xcel Energy’s Partners in Energy program.

This two-year program will help the City develop and implement its energy goals by engaging key stakeholders such as residents, businesses, developers, and schools, among others.

“We look forward to getting our community more engaged and involved in developing this plan,” said Mayor Jackie Millet during the City Council Study Session on April 6. “I’m very pleased to see the potential partners and stakeholders from our business community that are going to be a part of this as well.”

The City has begun working with Xcel Energy to identify community stakeholders to participate in various upcoming educational workshops. After the workshops are complete, Xcel Energy will work with the City and its community partners in developing a unique implementation plan for Lone Tree. This could include focusing on areas such as reducing the City’s carbon footprint and ensuring new developments are sustainable and energy efficient, among other goals.

“We really look forward to trying to help develop a sustainability model that the City can be proud of,” said Tom Henley, Area Manager for Community and Local Government Affairs. “With the community and businesses in the area, we’ll help achieve the goals that you have, whether that be carbon reduction, energy reduction, or whatever in the realm of energy that you truly see as the end goal for the City.”

Xcel Energy is currently working with dozens of municipalities across Colorado on their community energy action plans including Denver, Aurora, Littleton, and Centennial, among others.
