sept 11

The Lone Tree Teen Court has been selected to be 1 of 60 communities across America joining together to Never Forget the lives lost on September 11th. Each of the 60 inaugural communities will raise the official 9/11 Flag of Honor, which includes the names of all 2,983 victims who lost their lives, and will remember 50 of the lives lost by reading their name and bios.

Teen Court volunteers will be leading the event on Saturday, Sept. 11 from 9 – 10 a.m. at 9220 Kimmer Drive. They will be reading the 50 name and bios of the lives lost after the 9/11 Flag of Honor is raised by members of a local boy scout troop on the flag pole of the Municipal Building. Mayor Jackie Millet, Council Members, the Lone Tree Police Department and local firefighters will be joining Teen Court during this event.

This will be the largest nationally coordinated 9/11 Day Project in America in remembrance of the 20th Anniversary of that tragic day on September 11th.

Following the 9/11 Flag of Honor Across America Memorials on Sept. 11, 2021, many of these communities will be undertaking service projects such as blood drives, community resource fairs, and restoration projects. The communities participating in this Special 9/11 Day Project across America represent a wide range of agencies and organizations from the Global Youth Justice network of more than 1,800 youth-led programs, as well as, fire departments, police departments, nonprofits, courts, schools, senior centers, among others.

The 1st Annual 9/11 Flag of Honor Across America Memorials is led by Global Youth Justice, Inc., and is sponsored and funded by the Federal Agency AmeriCorps National Day of Service, and Global Youth Justice, Inc. This is one of only two new federally sponsored National 9/11 Day Projects by the Federal Agency AmeriCorps, and the largest nationally coordinated 9/11 Day Project since September 11th, 2001.
