Traffic traveling in both directions on RidgeGate Parkway is now flowing a lot smoother thanks to the completion of the RidgeGate Parkway Expansion Project. This project, which started in the spring of 2019, widened the roadway from 2 lanes to 6 lanes along this heavily used section of RidgeGate Parkway from Havana Street to the eastern border of City of Lone Tree to provide for enhanced movement of regional traffic today and to support the upcoming development plans within Lone Tree to the east of I-25.
One of the key features of this project involved adding a couplet near Badger Gulgh to separate the road into one-way streets directing vehicles in opposite direction to help accommodate commercial development in the future.
In addition, this project added two more lanes of traffic in each direction, new raised medians, a new traffic signal at RidgeGate and Peoria Street, additional turn lanes at signalized intersections, a new 12-foot wide separated cycle track along the south side of the roadway, and an 8-foot sidewalk. Two new bridges were also constructed, one over Happy Canyon Creek and one over Badger Gulch.
Funding for this project, which was managed by the City of Lone Tree, was provided through a federally-funded Transportation Improvement Program(TIP) project in coordination with Douglas County, SPMID, CDOT, DRCOG, and the Rampart Range Metro District.
