From the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT):

To eliminate more than 30 nighttime closures and additional construction for detour routes, the Colorado Department of Transportation will conduct a weekend-long full closure of the eastbound C-470 ramp to northbound I-25. This closure will begin Friday, October 11 at 10 p.m. and will continue through Monday, October 14 at 5:30 a.m. This closure is necessary to complete permanent concrete paving that will tie-in I-25 to the concrete on the new C-470 connector ramp.

Conducting a full closure of the connector ramp will eliminate the need for additional closures to create a detour route for motorists during paving work for the concrete tie-in. This will decrease confusion for the traveling public while increasing safety for motorists and construction crews.

Motorists will detour to E-470 Toll Road, no tolls will be charged during the full closure at the Peoria Intersection along the assigned detour. Depending on traffic this detour can add between 7 and 8 minutes to the motorists’ drive time. Please plan accordingly.

Eastbound C-470 ramp to northbound I-25 detour: Take eastbound C-470 to northbound E-470 to Peoria St. exit. Take Peoria St. to southbound E-470 and continue onto northbound I-25. (Detour is approx. 4.0 miles)

To expedite construction activities in support of project completion and to eliminate an additional extended closure, crews will take advantage of the weekend full connector closure by conducting a 40-foot in-ground caisson installation Saturday night. To perform this work, crews will close the eastbound C-470 lane to northbound E-470 in addition to the ramp to northbound I-25 Saturday, October 12 from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Traffic will detour from eastbound C-470 to southbound I-25. Exit on Lincoln Ave., turn left and continue back onto northbound I-25, take northbound I-25 to northbound E-470. (Detour is approx. 3.4 miles)

For your own safety and for the safety of our crews please watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting mainline C-470, obey all posted signage in construction zones and avoid distracted driving especially in the work zone. Your safety and the safety of our crews is our highest priority.

Follow detour signs accordingly and go slow for the cone zone.

Construction activities are weather dependent and the schedule is subject to change.

For motorists on C-470, courtesy patrol is provided Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to assist disabled vehicles at no cost to the driver.

More than 100,000 motorists currently use this segment of C-470 each day with volumes projected to increase 40 percent by 2035.
