It has been said that necessity is the mother of invention. A year ago, out of necessity caused by COVID’s effect on everyone, Lone Tree’s Living and Aging Well committee had to change its focus and repurpose their efforts.
Instead of monthly speaker luncheons, happy hours and potluck dinners, they began to look for ways to serve the seniors in the community affected by the pandemic.
With the generous support of several donors, they were able to provide free face masks and even had a vaccine outreach in which they were able to help schedule 50 local seniors for COVID vaccine appointments.
And through it all, they managed to have a little fun too. Last fall when Colorado’s beautiful autumn was in full glory, several box-lunch outdoor luncheons were held. When the weather drove them inside, they went virtual and hosted several zoom speaker sessions.
And now spring is in the air and everyone is excited to spend time together – in person! So the Living and Aging Well committee is hard at work making arrangements for outdoor luncheons as soon as weather permits.
