While the weather was particularly warm for a Colorado evening in December, it didn’t damper the holiday cheer enjoyed by hundreds of residents gathered at the City of Lone Tree’s annual Merry Days celebration on Dec. 3 at the Lone Tree Arts Center.
“It was wonderful to be able to gather together in the community this year to celebrate the holiday season,” said Mayor Jackie Millet. “There was certainly joy and excitement in the air during Santa visits, candy cane dances, and the tree lighting. The City Council is thrilled to see this relatively new tradition continue to grow and be embraced by our residents.
Children and grownups alike delighted in all the holiday activities that made the evening special from live holiday tunes, a hot cocoa bar, s’more roasting, and a visit from Santa Claus himself! Santa was even joined by horses from the Lone Tree and Parker police department’s mounted patrols.
“It’s one of my favorite events,” said Lone Tree resident Marissa Harmon, who attended Merry Days with her husband and children. “Thank you to the City staff for putting together such a magical event!”
The City partnered with the Douglas County Libraries Lone Tree branch and MorningStar to offer other holiday activities throughout the evening including holiday storytime, sing-a-longs, and a card-making station.
Merry Days continued through the weekend with events by other community partners including the Schweiger Ranch Austrian Christmas and Christkindl Market and Douglas County Library’s A Storybook Holiday: Reindeer Games.
