Happy Thanksgiving, Lone Tree!

Can you believe we are entering the final stretch of 2022? The holidays are my favorite time of the year, not only for the quality time spent with family and friends, but also because it creates a natural space to reflect and acknowledge our gratitude to one another and the blessings in our lives. Close to the top of my gratitude list is the amazing community I’m fortunate to call home.

Lone Tree’s Secret Sauce

Mayoral duties often call upon me to be the “chief cheerleader” representing our City. I passionately describe all the wonderful things about Lone Tree to anyone who will listen: aesthetically attractive, unrivaled access to pretty much everything, financially strong, high-performing, efficient local government, extensive multi-modal transportation system, high quality employment, range of housing options, award-winning cultural, natural, and historic amenities… I could go on!

The secret sauce, however, is the people.

The people who came together 27 years ago to create our beautiful City.

The people who, throughout the years, have served the community on City Councils, Boards, and Commissions.

The people who moved here throughout those 27 years to begin independent lives, raise families, or retire.

The people who chose Lone Tree and built their businesses here.

The people who work for the City and serve residents as employees, volunteers, current Board Members and Commissioners, and the people I serve alongside today on City Council.

Our collective action has produced something pretty special, and I am so grateful and honored to serve as your Mayor.

Thankful to spend time together

Lone Tree’s secret sauce is on full display when we come together, in community, to recreate and celebrate at City events. I hope many of you were able to attend an outdoor concert, Craftoberfest, the much-heralded Independence Day festivities, or any other of the wide array of offerings we enjoy throughout the year.

Please consider joining us to close out the year with some winter cheer during Lone Tree Merry Days. Our annual Tree Lighting at the Lone Tree Arts Center is next Friday, December 2, at 6 p.m. I hope to see you there!

Keeping Colorado Springs in our thoughts and prayers

Finally, I want to take a moment to share our heartfelt sympathies with the LGBTQ+ community in Colorado Springs. There are no words I can say that can help make sense of the tragedy that took place at Club Q this past weekend, but I do hope you will join me in keeping the victims and their families in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday,
Jackie Millet
Mayor
City of Lone Tree

P.S. Keep shopping local – it makes a difference!
