Hello Lone Tree,
As many of you have, I too have been considering the tragic death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. First, I offer my sincere condolences to the family of George Floyd.
I believe it is appropriate to share my thoughts and feelings of sorrow as the actions and inaction of some police officers has had a tremendous impact on all of us and has torn at the basic fabric of community trust and support for all peace officers.
That trust and support is relied upon to allow officers to serve and protect the communities on a daily basis. The behavior of the involved officers is inexcusable and has angered and saddened myself, my officers and the community. Their behavior goes against the valiant services peace officers provide to their communities every day.
At the Lone Tree Police Department, we focus on the core principals of Community, Integrity, and Service and will continue to uphold these values. We train our officers to work with the community, to be respectful with every individual and to demonstrate personal leadership at all times. That leadership should manifest itself in our interactions with all citizens, our personal conduct and decision making.
The Lone Tree Police Department will continue to serve this community with pride and be vigilant in upholding the public trust.
Kirk Wilson
Chief of Police
