by Kirk Wilson, Chief of Police, Lone Tree Police Department

On Wednesday, September 21, we held our annual Lone Tree Police Department Awards at the Lone Tree Arts Center. This is a great opportunity for us to welcome new officers during their swearing in ceremony, celebrate our officers who have gone above and beyond over the year, and send off friends who have been integral to the success of the LTPD.

Welcoming new officers

New officers sworn in to the Lone Tree Police Department

During the swearing in ceremony, we welcomed Officers (to my right) Michael Smith, Kenneth Stanton, Steven Ramos, Mimi Pavlova, Kate Roberts, and Lucas McCullough to the Lone Tree Police Department. I’m very excited for these young officers and I know they will make Lone Tree proud.

Awards

Over the course of the evening, we recognized civilian staff, our Lifesaver Award recipients Officers Chuck Miller and Cassidy Demo, and Cpl. Jonathan Dilbeck, our Vision & Value Award recipients Cpl. Jerffery Roepke and Officer Ricky Stegmaier, and our more than 80 Chief & Commander Commendations recipients. It was a special night to remind our officers just how big an impact they have in the City of Lone Tree.

Thank you, and happy trails Commander Dave Brown

Of course, the night was also bittersweet. After an illustrious 32-year career in law enforcement, our own Commander Dave Brown officially retired from the Lone Tree Police Department. Dave was one of the original 7 officers who started LTPD, and he has been here through every major department milestone.I have been grateful to have the opportunity to work with Dave. We all wish him and his family the very best in his next chapter.

Lone Tree Mayor Jackie Millet presents a proclamation of retirement to Commander Dave Brown after 18 years of service to the City of Lone Tree.

Being able to welcome new officers, honor outstanding employees, and celebrate the career of one of our best was a great reminder of the wealth of experiences awaiting folks in the profession of law enforcement, especially here in Lone Tree. At LTPD, we practice community policing, which means building connections with community members, treating people with respect, and providing support through education, training, and taking part in community events. We are in lock-step with our citizens, and that makes for a healthy and positive policing experience for everyone involved.  If you’re curious about what life is like as a Lone Tree Police Department Officer, please head to our website and see what opportunities could be waiting for you with our department.

Until next time,

Kirk Wilson
