Lone Tree Urban Renewal Authority

The Lone Tree Urban Renewal Authority (LTURA) was established by the City of Lone Tree City Council on September 9th, 2023 through the approval of Resolution No. 23-30. The purpose of the LTURA is to act as a tool to assist with the rejuvenation and revitalization of specifically designated plan areas within city limits, that meet the statutory requirements of blight. To remediate these conditions the LTURA primarily deploys the use of Tax Increment Financing (TIF). TIF is a financial mechanism that captures a percentage of the net new or ‘incremental’ property taxes that are accumulated when new development occurs and the assessed value of a property increases. That TIF is then used to fund redevelopment by providing partners with financing for projects. The LTURA is committed to projects that place the City as a premier Colorado community, foster a diverse and sustainable economy, and create signature cultural and recreational opportunities.

The LTURA is governed by a nine commissioner Board made up of the five members of the Lone Tree City Council, one commissioner appointed by Douglas County, one commissioner appointed by Douglas County School District, one commissioner appointed by agreement of all Special Taxing Districts within the Authority’s boundaries, and one commissioner appointed by the Mayor of Lone Tree and approved by City Council.
